The LIFE Skills Programme

Life skillsThe LIFE Skills Programme (LSP) is mainly delivered through group sessions with service users. Each element of the LSP has overall aims and objectives. The LSP is flexible so that the needs and interests of the service users can be met through the sessions.

Service user involvement is extremely important to us. Service users are encouraged to suggest session content. For example, in kitchen skills the service users will decide what to cook. Although each session focuses upon one element, the LSP is designed so that each session reinforces learning from other sessions.

The sessions also enable service users to develop skills such as group collaboration, team work, communication, interpersonal skills and problem solving. Through the sessions we also hope to develop the service users’ confidence and self esteem.

Every week the following group sessions take place:

  • Kitchen skills
  • Practical skills
  • Health and safety
  • Money and budgeting

Every month there are sessions on work and career, parenting and health.
